Winter Wonderland

Once the lakes freeze, the Lakes Region activities change to all things winter! More than 115 New Hampshire snowmobile clubs jointly groom over 6,830 miles of official trails extending from the Massachusetts border to Canada. Belknap Snowmobilers Club grooms two separate sections of moderate-sized local trails and long-distance state corridors primarily in the Gilford and Laconia areas.

In addition to this, the “little lake villages” begin to form as bob-houses are added. The Great Rotary Fishing Derby is always a big event, just down the road in Meredith. Or check out New England Pond Hockey Tournament in February. This event has grown leaps and bounds since it started in Meredith Bay and is a site to see.

A History of Cedar Lodge

During the early to mid-1970s, Cedar Lodge at Brickyard Mountain was known as the Shangri-La Resort. During the late 1970s, the Shangri-La Resort sustained severe fire damage and a 40 unit condominium complex was erected know as Cedar Lodge.

In 1983, Cedar Lodge dedicated six units to timeshare ownership. There are no more timeshares – they were eliminated in 2021. However, many units are in a rental program and offered for nightly, weekly or monthly accommodations.
